Common questions
App versus CLI, platform support, missing processes and where to get help.
Why isn’t portpilot in my terminal after Homebrew install?#
The cask installs the macOS app only. Build the CLI and TUI from source, or check published release assets. See CLI installation.
Why does portpilot tui need another executable?#
The full terminal interface is the separate portpilot-tui product. Keep it beside the CLI, or install it in a supported executable location.
Why are some processes missing?#
Discovery is limited by the current user’s permissions and OS tools. A failed or partial snapshot is not an empty machine. Preserve the error when reporting a problem.
Does it work on Windows or Linux?#
The macOS app is the main desktop surface. Selected CLI paths exist for Linux and WSL. Native Windows is experimental and has not been validated for security parity; the TUI requires a POSIX terminal.
How can I help?#
